Haaretz reported today that a couple of weeks ago, New York City Councilman David G. Greenfield introduced a bill that would bar the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene from requiring informed consent formetzitzah b’peh.
Metzitzah b’peh (blood sucking) is a Jewish blood ritual where a circumciser (mohel), “sucks out blood from a baby’s penis after circumcision.”
The N.Y. health department has linked several infant deaths to Metzitzah b’peh. Needless to say that the American health authorities’ concerns are more than reasonable. However, not many people are familiar with the history of the political and medical discussion over that particular Jewish blood ritual.
In Medicine and The German Jews, John M. Ephron elaborates on the evolvement of the opposition to Jewish blood rituals in Germany.
“Jewish circumcision was the subject of a wide-ranging debate in nineteenth-century Germany. Circumcision had long been regarded as the most distinctive and separatist of all Jewish rituals, and the discourse surrounding it went to the heart of the ‘willingness’ of the Jews to fully participate in the ‘act’ of being German. The ritual was interpreted as a signal of the Jews’ refusal to rid themselves of their differences, imprinting on their own male bodies, as an aboriginal would his tribal markings, an ineradicable expression of national identity. “
“Critics of ritual circumcision were particularly hostile to the act of metsitsah. For many Jews, primarily those who had joined the German middle class and had come to share the culture and aesthetic sensibilities of that group, metsitsah appeared to be an atavistic, sexually deviant act. Part of the traditional circumcision ceremony, the practice of metsitsah was widely condemned throughout the nineteenth century by medical and lay authorities, Jews and Gentiles alike. Charging that the practice promoted the spread of a host of sexual and infectious diseases, the arguments made against the practice were not confined to Western Europe but made their way east as well. “
I guess that as far as the Jews are concerned, the take home message here is plain and simple. When, the ‘Goyim’ start to complain about Jewish blood rituals is when they are willing to admit to themselves that something is distinctively different and wrong with Jewish culture.
Such a transition is indeed a sign of growing resentment towards Jewish culture and politics. In America this transition takes place at a time when the wide public gathers that it is Israel and theJewish lobby that are relentlessly pushing the west into wars. George Soros, a liberal Zionist who funds the pro-Israeli lobby group J-Street and the rabid Zionist NGO Human Rights Watch is also funding the so-called American progressive network and many Palestinian NGOs. I am convinced that the wide public is not really concerned with the rituals Jews perform on their new-born male babies. Yet, complaining about Jewish blood rituals should be grasped as a clear expression of growing fatigue with Jewish politics and power. People out there are saying, “Enough is enough.”
I really don’t think that I can save the situation, but I still see a duty to air my concerns. I believe that Jews had better beware and be alarmed. If Jewish history reveals anything, it warns that Jews are clearly getting themselves into trouble once again. If Jewish history teaches us anything, it also predicts that my call will be dismissed by Jews. And this is exactly what the Jewish tragedy is all about.

The brothers Butmir write: “The Kabbalah is the basis of the doctrine of the Masons, as well as all secret societies called to life by the infiltration of Jews in Christian circles. The purpose of Freemasonry is the symbolic rebuilding of the Temple of Solomon, but the secret purpose that is understood, is the destruction of the Christian Church and all Christian States, to replace the Christian faith by the luminous mysteries obscured in the Kabbalah, and submit all Christian peoples from the yoke of Kabbalistic Jews.”
“To achieve these goals, Masonry, from its installation in all countries, entering through its agents, all layers of society, managed to occupy the highest positions of State (now add : and the Church, all Christian Churches) by its members … and result in all peoples of the Universe riots, insurrections, revolutions. It spreads by all means, regardless of duty and the Patriot neglect the family, to the faith. Masonry is also seeking for the Jews, equal rights and the establishment of constitutional government under the label of which she promises to the nations of the benefits of all kinds, those benefits are really just enslavement of the people of the State, the Church to the Masonic Constitution, legalized in London in 1720, by the statutes of a secret Anglo- Jewish, whose aim is to worship the devil. “
And Butmir rightly adds “The meaning of the left in Latin sinistra, sinister, macabre, is also worthy of attention, because Christ said that on the day of Judgement, the Son of God would place the sheep on his right, that is to say those who have followed His commandments, and left, the goats that is to say those who have rejected His divine doctrine (Matt. XXV, 33), so the left indicates those who reject Christ are against Him, as well as the truth. The parties led by the Jews, the Masons or other Judaizing heretics call themselves leftists, to mark the initiated into the mysteries of Kabbalah their hostility to Christ and the Truth, and their adherence to devil worship and falsehood!”

The Jew, Bernard Lazare, in Antisemitism, its History and Causes,1894, dares to write (page 307):
“Without the Law, without Israel to practice it, the world would not, God would return to nothingness, and the world will know the happiness when it is submitted to the Universal Empire of the Act. ” (i.e. the empire of the Jews.)
In the preface of his book, speaking of the hostility that Jews brought upon by all peoples and all times, he writes: “Antisemitism has flourished in all places and all times, before the Christian era and later, in Alexandria, Rome and Antioch, Arabia and Persia In the European Middle Ages and in modern Europe, in short, in all parts of the world where there has been and where there are Jews, it seems unlikely that such an uniform opinion could be the result of fancy and whim and there must be at its heart a deep and serious reason.”
In his first chapter, he admits:” It is apparent that the general causes of antisemitism have always resided in Israel itself and not with those who fought and he concluded: “because everywhere, and until today, the Jew was an unsociable being. Why was he unsociable? Because he was exclusive, and his exclusiveness was both political and religious, or rather, he clung to his politico-religious cult, with its law … they wanted to remain Jews everywhere, and everywhere they were granted privileges allowing them to form a state within a state … “(17).
Elsewhere, he continues, speaking of the Jewish people:” An energetic people, vivacious with infinite pride, considering themselves superior to other nations, the Jewish people would be a power. He had an instinctive taste for domination since its origins; he believed race and religion placed him above all..Gold gave them a power which all political and religious laws denied them. Holders of gold they became masters of their masters; they dominated them … they entered the modern societies not as guests but as conquerors … they made the only conquest for which they were armed … “(page 223)

We grow from the seedbed of family. A recent family reunion
reminded me of factors that Influenced my early life,
factors that cause Jews to be overachievers.
They say, “You can choose your friends. You can’t choose your family.”
I wondered why a recent family reunion was not more relaxed and enjoyable. I felt I was under a microscope. My siblings and in-laws scrutinized my every word and deed, anxious to provide unsolicited help. My nephews seemed to show off and need praise. My nieces were struggling.
I concluded that feelings of inferiority and insecurity run in the family. Everyone bares the scars of a period of emotional deprivation. Is this characteristic of just my family or Jews in general? Is it universal?
I felt “unloved” when I was younger. There were some family-specific factors. As a baby, my dad wouldn’t let my mother feed me except at designated meal times. He read it in some book. He was training a wild animal, and so let a hungry baby cry. In general, dad wasn’t emotionally ready for family responsibility so soon after surviving the war. He did his best but some children have an insatiable need for love and affirmation, especially when they don’t feel it.
My mother loved us unconditionally. But the father’s role is crucial in the development of a child’s psyche. He channels God’s love in terms of building character and self confidence. You can’t phone it in.
We listened to the news at supper; my dad would be lost in thought. Now, almost 90, his mind is somewhere else most of the time. But he has never been sweeter and more good natured.
“HATED FOR NO REASON“
This may come as a surprise but many Jews have an inferiority complex. It’s why they boast about how superior they are. When I was a child I had an inferiority complex, and I suspect my family did as well. We always undervalued ourselves. Feelings of inferiority seem to feed the compulsion to overacheive.
The inferiority was partly due to being told “Jews are hated for no reason.” Most Jews don’t know the reason they are disliked. Not told of bankers’ plan for humanity, or the many other legitimate reasons for antisemitism, they chalk it up to “envy.” It’s a puzzle to them. But it has the natural effect of giving many an inferiority complex. It would be more healthy for them if Jews could be truthful about antisemitism.
This “hatred for nor reason” is not abstract. Although my family didn’t suffer from antisemitism in Canada, my grandparents and an aunt all perished in the holocaust. My siblings and I are the children of orphans.
In general, Organized Jewry can best manipulate Jews if they feel weak and vulnerable, under constant threat of annihilation. So we have Jews fearing Gentiles at the same time as Gentiles fear Jews.

Jews don’t know that Judaism is Luciferian. (This means making evil seem good, and vice versa; healthy seem sick; truth seem falsity etc.) Because of it, they have been both social and metaphysical outcasts. Their leadership has placed Jews in opposition to God.

In any case, the subtle sense of always being in revolt against what is natural, healthy and good exacts a psychological price. There is an insecurity that comes from being perverted and used unwittingly to subvert society.
Of course, I am referring to the disproportionate Jewish role in Satanism, Communism, socialism, liberalism, feminism, sexual liberation, abortion, pornography, gay “rights” and “progressive” (if you’re a Luciferan) causes in general.
The lesson is that if you deny the primacy of a loving God, you will be unloved. And no amount of “success” — money, sex or power — will compensate.
But getting back to my family, I hear of other families that are not even on talking terms. I am grateful that, after some ups and downs, our relations are respectful and cordial.

Two more babies stricken with herpes after ritual ultra-orthodox Jewish oral blood sucking circumcision in New York City

Two more infants have been infected with a deadly herpes virus in the last three months after undergoing a controversial religious oral circumcision in New York City.
The latest cases bring the count to 13 infants since 2000, two of which suffered brain damage and two died from the virus which can rapidly spread throughout its body.
The ultra-Orthodox Jewish practice of metzitzah b’peh requires a practitioner to orally suck the baby’s penis to ‘cleanse’ the open wound following its circumcision, making them susceptible to the virus.
The department of health says one of the latest infants to contract the virus developed a fever and a lesion on its scrotum, seven days after the procedure. The boy later tested positive for HSV-1. That virus differs from HSV-2, the genital herpes, which is contracted during sexual intercourse.
‘A herpes infection in a newborn baby has the risk of leading to severe illness and death,’ Jay Varma, deputy commissioner for disease control at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene told ABC News.
‘The reason is that the baby doesn’t have the same fully developed immune system as an adult. Instead of staying in the genital area, it extends throughout different organs in the body,’ he explained.
He said it’s too soon to tell whether the boys will suffer permanent effects.
The identify of the rabbi who performed the circumcision is being withheld by the boys’ parents, preventing the health department to step in, they said.
The religious practice that dates back to more than 5,000 years defies warning by the city’s department of health which says there is no safe way to perform the oral suction on an open wound.
More modern Jewish practices use a sterile aspiration device to clean the wound or a pipette opposed to the oral sucking.
But some rabbis stand grounded behind the practice, calling it a religious freedom while noting its long history.
In September the department voted to require parents to sign forms consenting to the risks of the practice after the death of two children who contracted the virus through the practice.
The parents of those newly infected boys are said to have not signed those forms.
According to Rabbi David Zwiebel, executive vice president of the Orthodox Jewish organization Agudath Israel of America, two-thirds of boys born in New York City’s Hasidic communities are circumcised in the oral suction matter.
The health department claims they’ve had complaints in past by parents who say they weren’t made aware that the oral practice would be performed on their child.

The ultra-fundamentalist Od Yosef Hai yeshiva in the West Bank settlement of Yitzhar is infamous for its involvement in settler violence against Palestinians. Memorably, one of the students fired a homemade “Kassam” rocket at the neighboring village of Burin in June 2008. This morning, Maariv reports that the Yeshiva’s dean has just published on the proscribed dos and don’ts (mainly the former) regarding the killing of gentiles. Here are some choice excerpts.
“In any situation in which a non-Jew’s presence endangers Jewish lives, the non-Jew may be killed even if he is a righteous Gentile and not at all guilty for the situation that has been created…When a non-Jew assists a murderer of Jews and causes the death of one, he may be killed, and in any case where a non-Jew’s presence causes danger to Jews, the non-Jew may be killed…The [Din Rodef] dispensation applies even when the pursuer is not threatening to kill directly, but only indirectly…Even a civilian who assists combat fighters is considered a pursuer and may be killed. Anyone who assists the army of the wicked in any way is strengthening murderers and is considered a pursuer. A civilian who encourages the war gives the king and his soldiers the strength to continue. Therefore, any citizen of the state that opposes us who encourages the combat soldiers or expresses satisfaction over their actions is considered a pursuer and may be killed. Also, anyone who weakens our own state by word or similar action is considered a pursuer…Hindrances—babies are found many times in this situation. They block the way to rescue by their presence and do so completely by force. Nevertheless, they may be killed because their presence aids murder. There is justification for killing babies if it is clear that they will grow up to harm us, and in such a situation they may be harmed deliberately, and not only during combat with adults.”…In a chapter entitled “Deliberate harm to innocents,” the book explains that war is directled mainly against the pursuers, but those who belong to the enemy nation are also considered the enemy because they are assisting murderers.

The complete guide to killing non-Jews

When is it permissible to kill non-Jews? The book Torat ha-Melekh [The King’s Teaching], which was just published, was written by Rabbi Yitzhak Shapira, the dean of the Od Yosef Hai yeshiva in the community of Yitzhar near Nablus, together with another rabbi from the yeshiva, Yossi Elitzur. The book contains no fewer than 230 pages on the laws concerning the killing of non-Jews, a kind of guide for anyone who ponders the question of if and when it is permissible to take the life of a non-Jew.
Although the book is not being distributed by the leading book companies, it has already received warm recommendations from right-wing elements, including recommendations from important rabbis such as Yitzhak Ginsburg, Dov Lior and Yaakov Yosef, that were printed at the beginning of the book. The book is being distributed via the Internet and through the yeshiva, and at this stage the introductory price is NIS 30 per copy. At the memorial ceremony that was held over the weekend in Jerusalem for Rabbi Meir Kahane, who was killed nineteen years ago, copies of the book were sold.
Throughout the book, the authors deal with in-depth theoretical questions in Jewish religious law regarding the killing of non-Jews. The words “Arabs” and “Palestinians” are not mentioned even indirectly, and the authors are careful to avoid making explicit statements in favor of an individual taking the law into his own hands. The book includes hundreds of sources from the Bible and religious law. The book includes quotes from Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook, one of the fathers of religious Zionism, and from Rabbi Shaul Yisraeli, one of the deans of the Mercaz Harav Yeshiva, the stronghold of national-religious Zionism that is located in Jerusalem.
The book opens with a prohibition against killing non-Jews and justifies it, among other things, on the grounds of preventing hostility and any desecration of God’s name. But very quickly, the authors move from prohibition to permission, to the various dispensations for harming non-Jews, with the central reason being their obligation to uphold the seven Noahide laws, which every human being on earth must follow. Among these commandments are prohibitions on theft, bloodshed and idolatry. [The seven Noahide laws prohibit idolatry, murder, theft, illicit sexual relations, blasphemy and eating the flesh of a live animal, and require societies to institute just laws and law courts]
“When we approach a non-Jew who has violated the seven Noahide laws and kill him out of concern for upholding these seven laws, no prohibition has been violated,” states the book, which emphasizes that killing is forbidden unless it is done in obedience to a court ruling. But later on, the authors limit the prohibition, noting that it applies only to a “proper system that deals with non-Jews who violate the seven Noahide commandments.”
The book includes another conclusion that explains when a non-Jew may be killed even if he is not an enemy of the Jews. “In any situation in which a non-Jew’s presence endangers Jewish lives, the non-Jew may be killed even if he is a righteous Gentile and not at all guilty for the situation that has been created,” the authors state. “When a non-Jew assists a murderer of Jews and causes the death of one, he may be killed, and in any case where a non-Jew’s presence causes danger to Jews, the non-Jew may be killed.”
One of the dispensations for killing non-Jews, according to religious law, applies in a case of din rodef [the law of the “pursuer,” according to which one who is pursuing another with murderous intent may be killed extrajudicially] even when the pursuer is a civilian. “The dispensation applies even when the pursuer is not threatening to kill directly, but only indirectly,” the book states. “Even a civilian who assists combat fighters is considered a pursuer and may be killed. Anyone who assists the army of the wicked in any way is strengthening murderers and is considered a pursuer. A civilian who encourages the war gives the king and his soldiers the strength to continue. Therefore, any citizen of the state that opposes us who encourages the combat soldiers or expresses satisfaction over their actions is considered a pursuer and may be killed. Also, anyone who weakens our own state by word or similar action is considered a pursuer.”
Rabbis Shapira and Elitzur determine that children may also be harmed because they are “hindrances.” The rabbis write as follows: “Hindrances—babies are found many times in this situation. They block the way to rescue by their presence and do so completely by force. Nevertheless, they may be killed because their presence aids murder. There is justification for killing babies if it is clear that they will grow up to harm us, and in such a situation they may be harmed deliberately, and not only during combat with adults.”
In addition, the children of the leader may be harmed in order to apply pressure to him. If attacking the children of a wicked ruler will influence him not to behave wickedly, they may be harmed. “It is better to kill the pursuers than to kill others,” the authors state.
In a chapter entitled “Deliberate harm to innocents,” the book explains that war is directly mainly against the pursuers, but those who belong to the enemy nation are also considered the enemy because they are assisting murderers.
Retaliation also has a place and purpose in this book by Rabbis Shapira and Elitzur. “In order to defeat the enemy, we must behave toward them in a spirit of retaliation and measure for measure,” they state. “Retaliation is absolutely necessary in order to render such wickedness not worthwhile. Therefore, sometimes we do cruel deeds in order to create the proper balance of terror.”
In one of the footnotes, the two rabbis write in such a way that appears to permit individuals to act on their own, outside of any decision by the government or the army.
“A decision by the nation is not necessary to permit shedding the blood of the evil kingdom,” the rabbis write. “Even individuals from the nation being attacked may harm them.”
Unlike books of religious law that are published by yeshivas, this time the rabbis added a chapter containing the book’s conclusions. Each of the six chapters is summarized into main points of several lines, which state, among other things: “In religious law, we have found that non-Jews are generally suspected of shedding Jewish blood, and in war, this suspicion becomes a great deal stronger. One must consider killing even babies, who have not violated the seven Noahide laws, because of the future danger that will be caused if they are allowed to grow up to be as wicked as their parents.”
Even though the authors are careful, as stated, to use the term “non-Jews,” there are certainly those who could interpret the nationality of the “non-Jews” who are liable to endanger the Jewish people. This is strengthened by the leaflet “The Jewish Voice,” which is published on the Internet from Yitzhar, which comments on the book: “It is superfluous to note that nowhere in the book is it written that the statements are directly only to the ancient non-Jews.” The leaflet’s editors did not omit a stinging remark directed at the GSS, who will certainly take the trouble to get themselves a copy. “The editors suggest to the GSS that they award the prize for Israel’s security to the authors,” the leaflet states, “who gave the detectives the option of reading the summarized conclusions without any need for in-depth study of the entire book.”
One student of the Od Yosef Hai yeshiva in Yitzhar explained, from his point of view, where Rabbis Shapira and Elitzur got the courage to speak so freely on a subject such as the killing of non-Jews. “The rabbis aren’t afraid of prosecution because in that case, Maimonides [Rabbi Moses ben Maimon, 1135–1204] and Nahmanides [Rabbi Moses ben Nahman, 1194–1270] would have to stand trial too, and anyway, this is research on religious law,” the yeshiva student said. “In a Jewish state, nobody sits in jail for studying Torah.”

Bearing witness meekly, silently
In 2010, when the archbishop announced he was planning a visit to Gaza just a year after the slaughter and devastation of Operation Cast Lead, I asked his Lambeth Palace office for more information. Whom would he meet? Would he see the health minister? Would he sit down and talk with the elected prime minister, Ismail Haniyeh, man of God to man of God (for Mr Haniyeh is an imam)? Would he do Gaza (and all of us) proud by spending a generous amount of his time with senior members of the Islamic faith?
His office didn’t reply.
According to the Archbishop’s website he did none of those things. At least, he didn’t mention them if he did. Unless I’m mistaken, he said nothing about Gaza in the House of Lords, where he had the ear of Parliament and the support of 25 other Church of England bishops.
Yet he began his Ecumenical letter that Easter by declaring: “Christians need to witness boldly and clearly.”
A lady wrote to me saying she had emailed Lambeth Palace 18 times asking if the qrchbishop’s party could please bring back some deaf children’s art, which should have been picked up by members of a recent Gaza blockade-busting convoy. The palace eventually declined saying the Israelis wouldn’t allow it.
If he’d been “witnessing boldly” as he exhorted other Christians to do, the archbishop would surely have instructed his staff to pick up the children’s art and dare the Israelis to confiscate it.

She complained that by not using his position in the House of Lords and elsewhere the archbishop was failing to improve the situation for Palestinians, quoting the words of Desmond Tutu: “Where there is oppression, those who do nothing side with the oppressor.”
It was later revealed that the Israelis severely restricted the archbishop’s time inside Gaza. I asked why such interference with the church’s pastoral business in the Holy Land, of all places, wasn’t broadcast on the website, in mainstream media and in Parliament.
His office confirmed that the archbishop had initially been refused access to Gaza but was eventually permitted one-and-a-half hours. This was just enough for a hurried visit to the Ahli hospital and no more. When my questions were forwarded to the archbishop’s public affairs spokesman, the reply was headed “NOT FOR PUBLICATION”. Suffice to say the Israelis from the start blocked the archbishop’s visit to Gaza and only at the last minute granted him a piddling 90 minutes.
Was this his idea of “witnessing boldly”?
The archbishop’s website joyfully reported how he hobnobbed with the Chief Rabbinate, paid his respects to Yad Vashem and the holocaust, and talked with the president of Israel – the latter no doubt sniggering up his sleeve at his guest’s frustration at being prevented by Israel’s thugs from seeing what horrors they had inflicted on the Gazans.
Why did he agree to fraternize with Jewish political and religious leaders when his wish to carry out his Christian duty in Gaza was so rudely obstructed? Did Lambeth Palace not realize that meekly accepting such insults only served to legitimize the Israelis’ illegal occupation of the Palestinian territories and gave a stamp of approval to the vicious siege of Gaza, the ongoing air strikes against civilians, the persecution of Muslim and Christian communities, and the regime’s utter contempt for international law and human rights?
There was no mention of a get-together with senior Islamic figures, leaving a question-mark over Williams’s real commitment to interfaith engagement.
Earlier, while the Jewish state was putting its finishing touches to Operation Cast Lead (the infamous blitzkrieg launched over Christmas-New Year 2008/09 against Gaza’s civilians, including the Christian community there), the archbishop joined Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks in a visit to the former Nazi camps of Auschwitz-Birkenau in Poland to demonstrate their joint solidarity against the extremes of hostility and genocide.

“This is a pilgrimage not to a holy place but to a place of utter profanity – a place where the name of God was profaned because the image of God in human beings was abused and disfigured,” said the archbishop. “How shall we be able to read the signs of the times, the indications that evil is gathering force once again and societies are slipping towards the same collective corruption and moral sickness that made the shoah [holocaust] possible?”
Read the signs? Surely they were plain to see. The forces of evil had already pushed some societies into the moral cesspit. He needed to look no further than the hell-hole that the Holy Land had been turned into by the Israeli occupation, with good old England’s blessing. If ever there was a place where “the name of God was profaned” this is it.

Open door for the bully-boys
The multitude of interfaith committees and Christian-Jewish councils has opened the door to the Zionist lobby and made it easy for them to meddle in Church business and bully Christians into submission. There’s even a propaganda outlet calling itself Anglican Friends of Israel. A few weeks ago Zionists, no doubt emboldened by the church’s appeasement policy, put the squeeze on the Bishop of Newcastle, Martin Wharton. The Representative Council of North-East Jewry wrote to him complaining that he voted for a motion at the General Synod which supported the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI) despite their “grave concerns … that it would encourage anti-Semitism”. His action, said the letter, “makes any further contact with the Jewish community in the North-East impossible”.
So be it, would seem an appropriate response. But oh no. What brought this on,according to the Church Times , was Bishop Wharton’s agreement to speak at a conference, “Peace and Justice in the Holy Land”, organized by a group of people who had taken part in the EAPPI programme. Its sponsors included Christian Aid, CAFOD and Friends of Sabeel UK.
The chief executive of the Council of Christians and Jews (CCJ), the Reverend David Gifford, said that the conference had “the potential of becoming yet another anti-Jewish meeting, creating more anxiety and distrust between the north-east Jewish community and the Church”. Then the Board of Deputies of British Jews chimed in saying that the EAPPI was “partisan” and “anti-Israel”.
Let’s be clear what the EAPPI is actually about:
The Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI) brings internationals to the West Bank to experience life under occupation. Ecumenical Accompaniers (EAs) provide protective presence to vulnerable communities, monitor and report human rights abuses and support Palestinians and Israelis working together for peace. When they return home, EAs campaign for a just and peaceful resolution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict through an end to the occupation, respect for international law and implementation of UN resolutions.
The EAPPI programme was set up by the World Council of Churches in response to a call by the churches of Jerusalem. Its mission includes engaging in public policy advocacy and standing in solidarity with the churches and all those struggling against the illegal occupation. Few people except those who support the brutal Israeli regime would disagree with the programme’s principles and objectives. And few, surely, would condemn the humanitarian work the EAPPI carries out with great courage in the face of criminal hostility. Nevertheless its success has whipped the usual suspects into an orchestrated frenzy.
As reported in the Jewish Chronicle, John Dinnen, whose motion sparked the Synod debate, pointed out that well-known Jewish groups such as Jews for Justice for Palestine and the Israeli Committee Against House Demolition [ICAHD] are entirely supportive of EAPPI, and that five per cent of EAPPI volunteers are Jewish “which is a higher ratio than the number of Jews in England”.
But despite having the moral high ground Wharton caved in and decided not to attend the conference “for the sake of good relations between all the faith communities in Newcastle”. The Roman Catholic Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle, Seamus Cunningham, also decided not to attend. He told the Jewish Chronicle that he had become aware “that many Jewish people in the north-east were angry and upset”. Perhaps the angry and upset should go themselves to the West Bank and experience the behaviour of their brethren towards Palestinian women and children and the EAPPI volunteers.
Throughout his time on the archbishop’s throne Williams was mad-keen on interfaith dialogue, for what good it has done, and spent an inordinate amount of time with Chief Rabbi Sacks. At one point the Israeli newspaper the Jerusalem Post suggested that the chief rabbi had “in some respects eclipsed the archbishop as the religious voice of the country”.
This is the UK, remember, where Jews comprise just 0.5 per cent of the population and Muslims are eight times greater in number.
Nor was the Archbishop the best-known Christian, according to a survey three years ago. Harry Webb (aka Cliff Richard) beat him into second place . The survey made Cliff even “bigger than the Pope”, who trailed in seventh place.
Now we hear that the squeaky-clean, born-again-Christian megastar is to perform in Israel in July, and the Israeli media are making a meal of it. Does none of these pious dudes understand the appalling, inhuman situation out there?
I’m not sorry to see the back of Rowan Williams – a good guy but not the right man at this time. And what are we to make of his replacement, archbishop number 105, who will be enthroned at Canterbury Cathedral in March? Justin Welby is touted as an expert in conflict resolution, but he comes from nowhere and is not known for his concern about the Holy Land. His grandfather was a Jewish immigrant and Welby was Bishop of Durham for barely five minutes before landing this top job.
The Jewish Chronicle reported that Welby last year helped mount a Holocaust Memorial Day exhibition in Liverpool Cathedral and – wait for it – abstained in last summer’s vote at the Anglican Synod which endorsed the EAPPI.
In my view, anyone who cannot bring himself to give wholehearted backing to a worthy humanitarian project like EAPPI shouldn’t be leading a great Christian church.

According to NOI research, Erlanger loaned $7 million dollars to the Confederacy (about $125 million in today’s money). As the media have been tight-lipped about Kate’s father’s geneology it is hard to determine whether he is a Jew or not. Were he not it would be unusual in a family with a long tradition of not marrying non-Jews, a tradition Kate herself has rigorously maintained, but even if he were not it would not matter as Jewishness is passed down exclusivly through the maternal line.

A prominent Israeli rabbi has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting his three teenage daughters for more than 10 years.
The rabbi, who has not yet been publicly named, is reportedly being charged with multiple accounts of sexual assault and invasion of privacy, Israel’s Ynet news website reported on Wednesday.
He was arrested 10 days ago but has been remanded in custody for an additional two days.
An indictment filed with the al-Quds (Jerusalem) District Court said the suspect began molesting the victims, ages 12 -14, more than 10 years ago.
The document said the rabbi sexually abused one of the elder daughters for two years, despite her pleas.
He told the girl they could sleep naked together and also placed a video camera in her room and watched her as she undressed and showered.
The suspect’s daughters are expected to testify against him in court.
Rabbi Israel Weingarten Re-sentenced To 30 Years In Prison
Hasidic rabbi raped his own daughter from when she was very young until she was able to flee her home at adulthood

Rabbi Israel Weingarten was originally convicted on 5 counts related to the systematic rape of his minor daughter and transporting this daughter across international borders to commit incest and rape.
He was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison.
But one count was later overturned on appeal because both legs of that particular trip were outside United States territory and therefore outside of US jurisdiction, and the case was sent back to the trial judge, Judge Gleeson, for resentencing.
Today that new sentence was handed down.
Originally, Judge Gleeson had sentenced Weingarten to ten years for each of the 5 counts, with the latter two to be served concurrently with the first three, for a total of 30 years.
Today, Judge Gleeson did essentially the same thing, giving Weingarten 10 years for each of the remaining 4 counts, with the last 10 to be served concurrently with one of the first 3 counts, for a total of 30 years in federal prison.
Judge Gleeson called Weingarten – who was known as a talmud chacham (a wise student of Jewish law and the Talmud) and who recently served as a sort of father figure for the ba’al teshuva students at Rabbi Leib Tropper’s Kol Yaakov yeshiva in Monsey, New York – a “vicious predator.”
Despite years of warnings in the various Satmar communities Weingarten lived in – in Europe, the United States and, briefly, Israel – that Weingarten was raping his daughter, Weingarten was not turned in to police and his daughter was not protected.
Even today after his conviction, leading haredi rabbis in Monsey, Jerusalem, England and Belgium continue to support Weingarten and efforts to have his conviction overturned.
Because the daughter Israel Weingarten raped over the course of a decade and a half is no longer hasidic or ultra-Orthodox.
In other words, because this raped and abused woman chose to leave haredi Judaism after all the years these haredi rabbis covered up for her father and failed to protect her, her testimoney about her father’s rapes is not deemed trustworthy by many of these haredi ‘gedolim.’
For others, the mere fact that she is a woman is enough to disqualify her testimony.
And for both groups of rabbis, Weingarten’s status as a noted “talmud chacham” trumps whatever crimes Weingarten committed, just like Rabbi Baruch Lanner’s kiruv, outreach, trumped his crimes according to his bosses at the Orthodox Union.
Modern/Centrist Orthodox rabbis have made real steps toward making sure nothing like the Lanner Case happens again.
Those steps are imperfect, and many of Lanner’s enablers still play leading roles in Orthodox communal life. But real, concrete steps have been taken nonetheless.
But this is not true of the haredi community, where active cover-ups of child sex abuse are ongoing and victims are persecuted and intimidated by leading rabbis – an, sometimes, by thugs representing those rabbis.
Even here, with all the evidence against Weingarten, his conviction and the failure of his appeal, haredi rabbis are once again punishing the victim of sex abuse while protecting and supporting her abuser.
Military rabbi suspected of raping daughter

A military rabbi, holding the rank of major, has been arrested under suspicion of raping and molesting his daughter for the last eight years, since she was 15. In addition, police suspect that the man may have assaulted another one of his children and plan to ask the court to extend his remand on Friday.
From the few released details, the man’s daughter arrived at the Shfela Sub District Police station and asked to file a complaint against her father. It appears that the daughter had gained the courage to complain to the police after going through therapy.
In her statement, the daughter said that her father began raping her when she was 15, and molested her on several occasions when the two of them where at home together.
Following the complaint, police arrested the father. He denied the charges against him and called them false.
Police accepted the daughter’s version of events, as it was consistent, and decided to hold the father for the night. In her statement, the daughter claimed that one of her brothers had also been victimized by their father.
Rabbi Elon accused of ‘long-term’ sexual relationship with student

Takana, the group that published allegations against Rabbi Mordechai Elon of sexually exploiting his students, said it did so because of “a long-term relationship that was clearly of a sexual nature.”
Elon Wednesday began to form a defense team to deal with the allegations and the possibility of criminal proceedings resulting from them.
Meanwhile, Rabbi Aharon Lichtenstein, a leading figure in religious Zionist circles, and a member of Takana, a group that seeks to root out sexual exploitation by authority figures in the Orthodox community, said a relative of Elon’s had threatened his life.
Lichtenstein told his students at Har Etzion Yeshiva in the Gush Etzion town of Alon Shvut, that the person “said he would hurt me in every way he could.”
Takana Wednesday released a position paper with more information in the form of questions and answers, following queries to its members about their conduct in the matter.
“The affair was made public now because we had become increasingly concerned that we had no other way to protect the public from the possibility of more harm,” the document states. The rabbis said they had to go public because “Rabbi Elon did not follow the restrictions imposed on him, particularly in the area of personal relationships.”
The group said that when the first claims of sexual exploitation by the rabbi came to light, they included “the most serious acts that cannot be interpreted any other way.”
However, the forum’s decision to force Elon to retire from public and educational life and impose restrictions on him came after the members realized, a year later, there was “another complaint more severe than the first.” The committee dealing with the matter said it was shocked to discover the second complaint was made while it was deliberating the first one.
The committee also presented details of the restrictions imposed on Elon: Immediately after receiving the first complaint, Elon was asked not to be alone with a man. However, “the committee lost faith in statements by the rabbi, who concealed his acts during deliberation on the first complaint,” and further restrictions were therefore imposed “that would distance him from the possibility of hurting anyone else in the future.” He was forced to step down as head of Yeshivat Hakotel in Jerusalem and from other public positions. The forum said his move to the north was not “on its initiative.”
In contrast to Takana’s statement, Elon says he refused the committee’s demand that he sign a document. He told Haaretz through an associate that he had only given the committee a letter in which he explained that he was stepping down from his posts because he had been “compelled” to do so.
